Coaching clinic

Tuesday, 15 April, 2014 09:50 am via Ice Hockey Queensland

Coaching Clinic April 26 2014

Location: Brisbane
Instructor: Debbie Strome

Ice Hockey Australia's National Mentorship Program has adopted Hockey Canada's Specialty Clinic Program.
These clinics were developed with the following messages in mind:
- keep them moving - whether it's a practice, clinic or camp, ice sessions should be designed to engage every participant consistently.
- emphasize the fundamentals - build a foundation that will never crack. incorporate a progression of skill development for every participant.

Training for 2 clinics will be offered:
1.  Skating - learn the basic fundamentals that should go into every practice to keep them developing in the most important skill of the game.
2. Checking Skills - the basic foundation to start checking skills from Atoms onwards will be taught to the coaches.

This clinic will also open the doors of communication and provide a non-threatening environment for coaches to further pursue a mentor.

For information and to register contact Terry Kiliwnik at kiliwnikpublic@gmail.com.

Interest for Medics and Scorers

Monday, 10 March, 2014 02:16 pm

Is anyone interested in Score Keeping or being a Medic for Ice Hockey games?

We will be hosting a presentation for Medics on Wednesday evening 19th March. Details to follow.
To be a medic, you must have First Aid. If not, please inform us in your email so we can organise it.

You will be taught how to score/time keep.

Being part of the off-ice official team is the best way to watch the game! Close to the ice to see all the action!

If this appeals to you, please contact supportstaff@starsicehockey.com.au

Casino Night 2013

POSTED BY Tracy Hocutt |

Casino Night is December 7! Don't miss it!

Monday, 25 November, 2013 07:34 pm via Brisbane United Ice Hockey League

Casino Night 2013

The Brisbane Goannas in conjunction with the Treasury Hotel & Brisbane United Ice Hockey League are excited to present the first annual end of the year Ice Hockey Bash! All Brisbane-based players are invited to attend! Whether you are a Buc, Star, Brown, GSHLer, Flyer or just like to rock up to training... this event is for you! Partners and friends are also welcomed for what promises to be a seriously fun night. Spots are limited so be mindful that other ice hockey players will want to attend - so don't invite too many non-hockey mates please!

We have our own room at the Treasury Hotel where we will have our own table games and dealers. There will be canapes served and drink specials available and we are running a gambling competion. For the first part of the event, you will receive chips to play with... the players who can gamble thier way to the top and earn the most chips will receive awesome prizes... (such as an XBOX with NHL 2014). More rules and prizes are coming on this as we hope to get a really exciting travel package as first prize!

Also to celebrate the inaugural season of the Brisbane United Ice Hockey League, there will be an awards presentation to recognize the top performers.

There will also be Playstation3 NHL 2014 games on the big screen so you can challenge your mates to a game!

This is a great time to hang out with your ice hockey mates away from the rink, have some drinks and have a fantastic time! This is a fundraising event for the Brisbane Goannas: ticket prices are $50 and all proceeds will be used to support the ladies of the Brisbane Goannas Ice Hockey team! The Goannas are having a promising season and are gunning to win it all this year!! We hope to see you and your teammates for an awesome night!

Stormerd are the 2013 BUIHL B Division Champions!

Saturday, 9 November, 2013 10:28 pm via Brisbane United Ice Hockey League

Congratulations to the Stormers on wining the first B division title for the 2013 BUIHL season. The Stormers went undeafted throughout the play offs and won the final game against the Flames 4-2.

This concludes the first official season of the BUIHL.  From the feedback we have recieved so far it has been a positive step towards improving the quality of hockey in Brisbane.  We aim to make small changes each year to improve the league in small steps.  We will be gathering feedback from players and especially captains from each team. Please feel to post comments on facebook, send emails or chat at the rink on what you think worked well and what didn't.

We will be aiming to gather team submissions durring January 2014 with the intention to have a draft schedule done for February 2014.

Thanks to everyone involved to make this league possible.  I hope everyone one is looking forward to the 2014 season.
